Android Device Security

I only came across this issue recently, but it annoys me. I have both an android phone and an android ipad style thingie. (For Bedside newspaper reading mainly)
I seldom look at my email (btinternet and gmail) on the phone, so when I do I enter via the web browser, and the phone asks me about remembering my password. I tell it not to.
The android ipad-style thingie, though, remembers my gmail password for everything, whether or not I want it to.
You CANNOT sign out.!!!!
So, if it were to be stolen, and let's hope it will not be stolen, I am "open" to someone learning lots about me.
I used my desktop to change my password to stop the ipad thingie remembering me. So now 3 or 4 googlie things, all part of the standard bloatware have little triangles asking me to sign in. I will not.
Cheeky so and sos.
One hell of a security risk.
