I only ever saw the LORAN used on the North Atlantic
The earlier Nimrods had LORAN, before Omega came along. Used it in the Med & Indian Ocean, but could usually get only one position line out of it. At low-level one could transfer that line for hours, and become quite adept at constructing MPPs (secret nav word)
