There are some superb pictures of this prang going around. But it's all a bit confusing exactly what happened and why. Does anyone know how close they were to Manyara airstrip when they hit the lake?? I'm assuming that there was a gear failure as well as a double engine failure, or they would surely have targeted landing on the shore or salt flats around. Guess the water made a softer landing. Lucky it's a shallow lake and the plane floated so well!!
