It depends if we are talking economic left or social left. Communist countries are usually "economically left" but "socially right" in the traditional sense.

Either way I wouldn't exactly be holding China up as the sort of Australia I want to live in due to the lack of human rights and opportunities as well as big brother style government. It's very different to the left the Labor or Greens want to see in Australia (despite what some people from the right seem to believe).
