Advice on becoming a commercial pilot?

Hi there

Im 16, 17 in August and a want to pursue a career in the aviation industry more specifically a commercial pilot. I already have an A in higher Maths and B in Physics (Scottish Qualifications). Im now doing Advanced Higher Maths to help improve my maths skills. I'm now in my last year of High School and I'm not sure what route to take after I leave school. Some people have told me go to university if you can but I'm not sure if I would get in so then what do I do get a job until I'm 18 and then try get in with an airline/CTC e.t.c. I don't want to go down the modular route although it may be much cheaper, Ive spoken to a B.A pilot who says I would have greater chance of employment at the end with a Integrated ATPL course and Integrated just appeals more to me.

NOTE (I'm Scottish and would NOT pay any tuition fees if i were to go to a University in Scotland)

P.S If it says you have to be 18 does that mean 18 at the start of course or 18 at the time of applying?

Any advice on what to do after i leave school would be great!

Thanks
