Fortunately those days are rapidly coming to an end thanks to all the credit crunching.
Those pilots who applied have served their time, most likely are already in gainful employment and have their CVs on lots of different desks already.
From an observers point of view £20 000 seems a bit steep for a bus rating if correct sk8erboi, especially for experienced pilots with medium jet time. There are a lot of airbus sims in Europe not doing much just now.
