The only issue I saw with IREX is trying to learn the subjet in it's entirety without flying a single minute IFR.
IREX after at least 2 flight tests (plus all the flight time inbetween) shouldn't pose too much of an issue.
If you're staying here and it's indeed a requirement.... sit it, get it done.
