I wouldn't really say it's an increase. They weren't accepting anybody with 250 hours anyway. The previous ad just never stated a minimum hour requirement.
Even 500TT is a wee bit low compared to what I have heard they are accepting. Having said that, recruitment is on the up and the rumours have it that 2014 will be a very big year for link recruitment.
