I watched parts of the Airbus feed last night, the little feature on the flight test crew was really well done! I was sure the Aussie press would be all over it too. Or at least acknowledge it.
The Age had a great article today titled "State of the art goes sky high [...] at Boeing" and of course
"Steve Colquhoun travelled to Seattle as a guest of Jetstar, Qantas and Boeing."
Strangely enough, despite some versions of the A350 directly competing with some versions of the 787, it didn't rate a mention.
Oh well, even if Fairfax didn't like it, News Corp would have covered it:
A350 takes off for battle with Boeing.
And to be fair they did, but only couching it in terms reminding us that Airbus has a fight on their hands.
What gives? I would have thought at least some commentators could have got behind a relatively trouble free and hype free aircraft roll out, as we'll be seeing quite a few of these at Australian airports in years to come.
...or perhaps they're waiting for Paris next week!
edit: sorry for not referring to the REAL aircraft names (A350-XWB or 787 Dreamliner), I can't be bothered.
