Call an FAA FSDO (Speak out: fisdo) and state that you are a pilot who has a question about the federal aviation requirements. Ask for an airmen inspector (you also have mechanic inspectors and you do not want to speak to one of these). FSDO office contact details you can find on the
www.faa.gov website. Present your case and you will be answered immediately. Better than the "experts"
