Situations for spinning? as you mention: on approach, during a forced landing, trying to get a shot on the Wycombe Chipmunk in a turning fight (hey, Andy, that was just nibbling the buffet). Wake turbulence may be more likely to put you in an unusual attitude, from which, if you don't recover, you might spin.
