Looking at the site on
google maps, I wonder if the same would have happened if there was a BBQ in the private gardens that are closer to the helipad than the doctors accommodation. Even if they were right on the pad, anything wrong with getting them to put the BBQ out?
Why do I get a feeling this was a fuel & opening hours issue more than a BBQ smokey issue?
The aircraft was approaching the hospital last Thursday night ....
...The helicopter flew to Oban airport and undertook a planned refuelling, from where the patient was transferred to hospital by road ambulance.
