How will this affect all boat owners in Hong Kong?
At the moment, there is a shortage of slippage points in HK (ie racks where larger sized vessels can be pulled up a ramp out of the water). The slips are used for scheduled maintenance of boats (any new boat normally has a requirement for inspections as a condition of the warranty), and hull inspections which are required by finance companies if there is any finance obligation for the boat.
At a semi-educated guess, these yards have probably 1/4 to 1/3 of the large size slips in HK. AND, there's a waiting list for their use. It's a simple supply-demand equation.
