These boots were made for....

Bl**dy hell - a gestation period of around 20 years finally comes to an end. No wonder there are still concerns over procurement processes...

I remember staffing the STF for `extreme cold weather flying boots` during the Kosovo push. A boot fitted with a breathable sock insert was chosen (You may think Gortex but I couldn't possibly comment) as the most suitable.

When the Kosovo thing finished, (and in summer), my office received an Incident Report (IR) from a unit just west of the A1 near Stamford, stating that the said boot was too hot. Apparently, the problem was so bad that the wearer took unilateral action to alleviate the problem. He cut the membrane out of the boot.....

Priceless!

PS: I`m sorry but the Mk 4 CWJ the lady is shown wearing (above) just looks awful - A real mess..
