If Easy were encouraged to try Gatwick from the city it would result in Aer Lingus packing up and going back to Dublin even sooner. This would be detrimental to the citys business and they would lose alot more than they would gain. It hasn't worked well for AL to date, the higher yield they were assured they would get operating from the city, has failed to materialise. The switch to domestic routes didn't happen due to pressure from flybe. The last thing the airport need, with the level of debt they are currently carrying, is their only international carrier packing up and leaving.
