Just play along with them for now, go to the interview and see what is offered. If you make it through, you will end up in a holdpool and for some unknown period of time. If and when they call you again, you can always say. "thanks but what you are asking from me is not viable." Maybe five people have already told them that in the previous hour. That is when they will have a rethink. If they don't change their mind, at least you will have had the option, done the right thing and got some interview sim experience if BA call.
Look at Jet2. Offering a combination of dodgy deals, good deals and everything in between. If enough people turn them down they will up the deal. It's a bit like haggling for double glazing. If you want it bad, prepare to be shafted! If you are prepared to walk away.....who knows?
