Do I have to go to U.S?
I'm working on this conversion to a commercial FAA license...
The thing is, the FAA wants me to visit an FAA office to get my private FAA based on my foreign (JAA CPL) license. As far as I know the FAA has no offices outside the U.S. I hoped I would not have to go to the U.S. for this conversion, since I plan to make the FAA check ride in Europe (CPL / IR / ME).
Everything else is ok. I have received TSA approval, I have done the FAA written examination, I have done an FAA medical examination, I have an approval from a FAA instructor and has all the hours that I need according to FAR.
So, is it possible to avoid having to go to the U.S. just to collect this FAA private certificate? It feels like an expensive trip otherwise just for a piece of paper...
