Myanmar

Myanmar is one of the easiest countries I've ever flown around - once you have the required permits.

Wah Wah Co. do an awesome job for handling and can look after you at any port.

The 'annoying' issues are related to money (as with most things in life). There are only a handful of ATM's in the country, the use of credit cards is also very limited, even at most hotels, so you are going to need to carry USD$. By the time you stay in a few hotels, and move around the country a bit, you'll possibly need quite a few of those $. For us, Wah Wah Co had their agent come and pay everything at each hotel and they just billed us.

You need to send your crew passport details at least 7 days ahead and you can get a visa on arrival at Yangon. Neither Jepp/WFS or UVAir Fuel can issue fuel releases for Myanmar yet, due to trade sanctions. This should change in the near future. In the mean time, its either cash or your handler pays and on-charges it.

Be prepared to fly a few NDB approaches if you go to destinations other than Yangon and if you get the chance, take the time to see Inle Lake before the rest of the world catches on.

Safe travels.

PS: Your mobile phones won't work there but internet was available in major hotels.
