I walked behind a HWY Patrol car parked in a cross-street the other day, and couldn't help but notice the officer was watching 2 video screens.
From his parked position his monitors were watching traffic from both directions on the adjoining highway, and little target boxes were hovering over the rego plates as the cars drove each way. I give you about 12 hours in a built up or metropolitan area before they getcha.
On the aviation side, a CASA FOI was bragging to me the other day that they are using Flight Aware to monitor operations at places within radar coverage - including the circuit at Armidale, in this case.
Anyone fudging their MR or their sign on/sign off times is setting themselves up I'd suggest.
Private operations will remain off the radar in a regulatory sense. I mean.. until they crash into a Ferris wheel, who cares?
