Military Salary
I'm not a betting man, but very sure that it was introduced in April 1970. We had bought our first house (well the Anglia Building Society had bought 95% of it) only a week before, and when we applied for the mortgage my Fg Off salary was £1900 - one week after moving in I had an increment on the 1st April ( yes really commissioned on April Fool's Day ) plus the '70 rise plus the new military salary and wow I was now on £2400, riches!
Back to thread, let us hope Lady Thatcher's funeral passes off peacefully. RIP.
