Driving home today, I must have heard the BBC's policy on "Ding Dong..." mentioned about 15 times on the radio news bulletins. I don't get it - if the corporation really thinks that the campaign is in dubious taste, the best thing to do would be to make no reference to the campaign at all, play the song in its 54-second entirety in the Number 1 slot on Sunday without adding any amplifying comment, and move on. Practically no airtime devoted to the childish stunt, compared to the blanket coverage being given today...
