F-35 Cancelled, then what ?

All of which would be fine If

1. It displayed above cutting edge performance

2. It didn't cost so much.

3. It had far less questions against it.

But I doubt it's going to be cancelled, the program is way to far advanced.

Pity the poor buggers who will have to fight it against matching [or above] foes....
