I realize the -400 isn't exactly the most efficient machine these days, but it would be perfect for adding seats to Oz. 4 classes of service, plenty of range, decent cargo capacity, and lots of them sitting around or flying regional routes. No shortage of pilots for them either. If they just need capacity, not more frequency, then my bet is on the -400. Previous post about not enough 777s is correct. As they get them, they go straight onto long haul routes replacing the -400 to NAM and EU.
The -400 is a good short term solution, at least until all those A380s start showing up.
