Libre Office 4 and SoftMaker Office

I was just looking at the PC World comments about Libre Office 4. Some were not all that good. I'm running W7 Pro

Six good reasons to download LibreOffice 4.0 | PCWorld

Someone mentioned this:

If you're looking for an office suite with real interoperability, a pretty UI and high speed, choose SoftMaker Office. It's the only office package I know to offer seamless file transfers between Microsoft Office without loss of formats.

I write in Word Perfect 8 which I have on every computer, but I've got just one copy of MS Word. I really need more, but with the book in the last stages of editing, and as an old dog, I just don't dare spend too much time learning new tricks.

Any thoughts?
