Flight BA196 Houston to Heathrow a Boeing 747-400 G-BNLE diverted on emergency to Cardiff believed to be due to instrument problems.
Aircraft landed at 10:43 without incident but was met by the airport fire service on arrival as a precautionary measure.
The engineering team at British Airways Maintenance Cardiff (BAMC) will now be inspecting the aircraft and to repair the technical issue.
Depending on the severity of the issue and the length of time it will take to fix it is believed the aircraft is to continue to Heathrow with passengers on board.
