When you take petrol at say €75 and tolls at €15, surely it's not worth what's still a 6 hour round trip to make a net saving of €40 euro and that's assuming you don't need to overnight. Of course you could take a coach and get a tour of Dublin City in the process. In many cases fares are similar but then other factors come into it like the departure date or time from Dublin being more convenient. It seems the convenience of flying from ones local airport is only a minor factor with many people.
