Had the route planning people in Aer Lingus not thought this one through and checked what the slot availability at CDG was for the coming summer schedule? If not, it may indicate that it was thought only a formality and no problems had been perceived beforehand?

If the above is true - to my mind it goes a long way to what I always thought - Cork is very, very much an afterthought in the Aer Lingus operating psyche. Cork hardly counts - yet what may be a small core of interested parties get their way and a questionable Brussels route is launched last summer and is reduced for the upcoming summer schedule. That speaks volumes for Cork - Brussels, does it not?

No imagination - no real new interesting destinations for a Cork public starved of city break routes and the same old hash of well worn bucket & spade routes. It is just too easy for Aer Lingus at Cork and for Ryanair too for that matter.

If you want to visit anywhere new many potential Cork Airport passengers are now condemned to drive by the entrance of their local airport, join the Dublin Road, pay for fuel, two tolls, food, a likely hotel night, more food, car park and all in order to feed the double headed monster of the DAA and the all Dublin Aer Lingus.

And what do most Cork people keep doing - keep taking it up the jacksie.

Mugs.
