To be useful, I say again USEFUL, to an emergency service you need to be available at all times, day and night, in all weathers, have the right skills and practice them regularly, and the right aircraft with the right equipment - it's no use if, for example, you cannot talk to the people you're offering to help or you lack the space or payload.
