At the risk of going too far off-topic, I won't carry on past this post - but I was thinking of the RR Medways that were slated for the original version of the Trident (and sadly stayed on the drawing board when BEA 'Speyed' the Trident)...
There was a popular bit of piloting scuttlebutt that said the DC9 had the same "oomph" with an engine out that the 1-11 had with both working...
