The pros and cons of doing sim prep in a relevant sim should be (and has been) the topic of other thread(s). From these threads you may note that few people believe that there is value in doing a pre-interview sim in anything but a full-motion simulator.

Two examples:

http://www.pprune.org/dg-p-general-a...ance-sims.html

http://www.pprune.org/dg-p-general-a...-sim-prep.html

Plenty of stuff there about the limitations of the simulators such as the one in Darling harbour.

But my problem with you is that you gave poor advice to someone:

@Trev - there is a new Airbus A320 full-size sim on St Kilda Rd Melbourne that is available for hire. It is used for joy flights, familiarisation and training.

I think it costs about $150 an hour for training.

Contact details are email: [email protected]
This advice was wrong. First was price wise. Second, there is nothing on their website about training. A 30 second check on google would have found the employment link where it says that the minimum requirements for a sim instructor for them is a PPL!

Are you seriously telling me that a PPL can give relevant advice on someone who wants to use that sim for the purpose of a job interview?

You gave more advice:

The interview and selection process for airlines generally includes a simulator session.

There are a couple of businesses specialise in preparing applicants for these interviews, for example:

Cabin Crew Interview | Pilot Interview

Part of this preparation often includes time in a simulator, so that when the candidate does the sim ride they are more familiar and can perform better. Call it being better prepared for the interview.
Let's see. Link was okay... non-australian website, but has helped out some aussies. Interestingly, the website you linked only appears to have a 737NG sim ride in any of their packages. And yet...

The question related to an A320.

I imagine that because Tiger and Jetstar use A320s and these airlines probably have the best growth prospects, that this (Airbus) is where the best job opportunities will be.

Time in an A320 sim makes sense to me for airline aspirants.
Written with all the authority of an I.T. professional who's never done an airline interview.

I'm not saying you're wrong with your last point, btw, but you're giving advice that you, personally are not qualified to give.
