Just watched a vid on YouTube showing a pilot setting up and using a 'GoPro' video camera on several flights in the USA, yet, no one (pax that is) is allowed to use theirs in the main cabin below 10,000ft due to 'electronic devices not allowed', why?
Simply 'cause nobody is there to tell the pilots to turn it off.
What's not allowed in the cabin is not allowed in the cockpit either, as that's where lots of the electronic instruments (or at least significant portions of them) are located, making them even more susceptible to interference.
