PR it is known as damage control. They all do it.
What I found refreshing is that the reporter did not use the usual hype. Maybe he has a pilot licence because neither did he use technically-incorrect language, as is so often the case.
Those Aussie journos who make embarrassing reports on aviation matters could perhaps learn a few lessons from our northern neighbour!
