can someone please explain why its necessary to switch of electrical items during takeoff and landings? ive heard it said many a time that they can effect the aircraft systems etc,but why then is it ok to use them during the rest of the flight?

In the meantime, think about it - if, heaven forbid, your PDA is going to interfere with on-board navigation systems, would you rather it happened at 500' on the ILS, or at FL100 ?
