There was no requirement for units to record the allocation of individual aircraft letters. The entries "AR-?" indicate that the Loss Cards do not show the individual letters (although there's a space for them) so the unit presumably did not give that information to the Air Ministry. If the squadron Operations Record Book (in the National Archives) doesn't give the letters the chances of tracing them are very small indeed.
