Surely basic algebra and trigonmetry is still taught at schools? I must have been about 9 or 10 when first introduced to algebra....
I can remember doing algebra at primary as well. Didn't go past 'O' level maths but did calculus doing my HNC and also did an astrophysics course which was a tad maths heavy.
When I went to Biggin I remember there being 6 of us in a room and they asked us to write down how long it would take to travel 150 miles at 90mph, when we had written it down we had to hold the paper up in our hand. I calculated it before he'd finished asking the question and scribbled it down before sticking my paw up expecting to be outrun by the other candidates who were somewhat younger than me. I was gobsmacked when some of them took literally
minutes to figure it out.
