R Adm Parry's article is interesting - but not for what it says, but for what it doesn't say: how are we going to pay for the "modular" and "adaptable" elements that can be based on the QECs? It's all very well to say that we should be able to deploy them on UK-only ops, but show me how the current - and any likely - RN fleet between now and 2030 works with this?
FWIW - and I'm light, not dark, blue - it seems absurd in an era of 19 DD/FF and 7 SSNs to suggest that the the UK is ever (bar a photoshoot) going to put 1 x CVF, 3 x T45, 4 x T23/26 and 1/2 x SSN + RFAs, plus an amphib group out to play as they will be little or nothing else that the RN can do... and there's much for the RN to be doing.
And yes, even as light blue I'm prepared to go and serve on the damn thing!
