WDC do hate Coventry having an airport. It might be different if WDC got the profits and kudos, as they don't, they won't.
Well amazingly it went to a 5-5 draw, I was expecting a firm vote against from them.

any further development would have to gain planning permission in its own right and could be turned down at that stage.
And would also have to be south of runway near where current protakabins are. Have they thought that a business park with 10k jobs (give or take) might warrant a hotel in its own right?

Holiday Inn already exists at end of Siskin Drive. There has been talk of an airport hotel, but you need an airport first!

A few other facts about the airport for the alarmists:

* The logical client for the portakabin terminal would of course be Ryanair. However, no way MOL wants to come in with the limit range of the 738s off CVT''s runway. OK, he might get a good deal on the fees, but BHX gives him full range, and airport can still offer good deal and cash in with mall, parking etc.

* At the moment, a runway extension at Baginton end would be far cheaper than what Brum are doing - but politically a non-starter. Also, the new road would make an extension MUCH more expensive - so anyone want to bet on the odds of it happening?

* To claim a BUSINESS park with ~10k jobs is going to support a loco passenger operation which needs a catchment of a good 1m to make it work is ridiculous. So if Easy or Jet2 did come in and launch a route to BCN etc, there might be one or two business people on the plane, but we're talking a fraction of 1% who would come as a result of this development.
