Procedure..
Do not fly slower than VLS!
Reduce to and stabilise at VLS.
A/THR OFF, maintain VLS.
Select next FLAP position, even if above VFE next.
As the Slat or Flap extends VLS will reduce (remember VLS is always accurate for the existing CONF). Adjust thrust manually to reduce speed as VLS reduces.
At required CONF ... A/THR ON with a suitable selected speed.
