CCC approve the scheme with conditions:
Controversial plans for the £250m Gateway development on land surrounding Coventry Airport have been approved, with conditions, by councillors at the city's planning committee.
The promise of the creation of up to 14,000 jobs and 'significant economic benefits' swung Coventry City Council's support behind the proposals.
Warwick District Council will now vote next week as large parts of the scheme falls within its administrative authority.
If approved, the project could be called in by communities secretary Eric Pickles to decide the fate of the ambitious scheme.
Plans for the proposed development, which were submitted in September, can be divided into five parts with approval sought for a total space covering more than 4.7 million sq ft.
It is claimed the Gateway project will create up to 14,000 jobs – 6,000 on the logistics park, 4,000 on the technology park and an extra 4,000 at Whitley Business Park, where Jaguar's headquarters are located, as a result of the plans.
