Yes, it seems that a change in philosophy as to unexperienced new hires has been made in QR, espacially after this year´s "Spanish hangover" (no offence to my spanish friends). But it certainly does not mean that QR is pouring sulfuric acid into our blue pool to make us dissolve into oblivion.
Into every each of us, QR has already invested not a totally unsignificant amount of time, money and effort and the selection process has been fair, just as iQatar has suggested (winning a group assesment does not make one a better pilot).
QR will clear the backlog of those still interested once it is clear that the new airport will truly be opened, thus new aircraft will be able to arrive, thus new pilot are needed. Then we can all rejoice and fly happily ever after
