its major down fall is it wont do half zones, aka central time

There is a work-around on the Promaster - you can re- align the hands (procedure in the manual) and use that function to re-align the hands 30 minutes out of whack to the digital display. I have my digital display on UTC and the Analog presentation on local time.
...and I use the slide rule all the time cos its quicker than pulling out my phone and trying to open the calculator
