Good afternoon Rotorheads,
My daughter has just left the school she was attending and started 3/4time near full employment for a year prior to going on to her wanted degree course, the job she has took her to pretty long hours in two eateries, where one young man who works behind the bar struck me as being really well educated, so after a few Peronis and a snatched conversation it seems this young man wants to be a Pro Pilot, he has paid for his own lessons and is up to about 220hours on twin turbines, so I started to ask my truely employed pilot friends was there anything they could do or suggest to help get this young man into a paid position where he could expand his experience, you will all know the problems and sadly the great profession of Pilot seemed to be still distant after about 4 months, this young man has a degree in Astro-Physics speaks absolute Queens English and is mad keen, one of my Pilot friends suggested he contact the Armed Services to see if any doors could be pushed open to get his foot inside, so after finding a few addresses for him we are all absolutely pleased as punch to announce that our young very nice friend has been taken on by the Royal Navy and is just ennrolled and started Offiicer training at Dartmouth College, having been told as long as he passes his OTC he will fly Navy aircraft or helicopters.
If I was cleaver enough to cut and paste the e mail he sent to me telling us that news, i am sure all you proper pilots out in Pprune land would be just as happy as I am that a couple of old gits who love flying Helis have helped a real and brilliant young man onto the ladder to achieve his dream!
