As to why, consider what percentage of people who pay the money for a CPL(H) + IR come away without actually getting it. Could it perhaps be zero %?
Bristow has I think realised that selection on the criteria of ability to self-fund is not necessarily a good way to select its staff to take the company into the next generation, even though it is the cheapest option in the short term.
It is well worth paying a paltry £100k or so to be pretty certain to get a top quality product at the end, with a life of say 40 years, as they did in the 70s, 80s and 90s. 100k/40 yrs = £2500 per year, good value!
Edited to say that they will no doubt recoup some of that by means of "cadet pay scales".
