If they let the airlines have a say in this, I have a feeling that they would rather stay at Newcastle where they have the infrastructure to deliver the passengers....Metro...hotels...good road network...big city etc. etc. I suspect that offering a vaguely titled airport which doesn't mean a lot would not meet with much enthusiasm at route conferences.
