I tried to help a friend like that once. Nearly lost my own job over it! Poor guy is now an accountant but he is studying to become a civil engineer, (curbs and side-walks). His flight training investment of many tens of thousands of USD, and, his pride, gone. ATPL & type ratings just a hole in his wallet. His 7000+ hr Logbooks just sit on a shelf gathering dust. Last entry June 2006. An absolute shame.
