The photograph was taken at
Kirkwall's war memorial which is just alongside Kirkwall Cathedral - population of Kirkwall is about 8,500.
On Stronsay about 40 adults and 15 children gathered at the Stronsay war memorial for a short service including the 2 minute silence and the laying of two wreaths (one by an adult, one by two youngsters).
It's a very exposed place and it was bitterly cold and windy but the rain held off.
