After learning to march, the REME should give you excellent trade training. However these days the CAA cannot give you any exemptions on the basis of this. So when you are coming up to your discharge date (2 years before) you should start the examinations B2 if your going to be a greeny (electrical avionic) oe B1.2 if your mechnical.

Hopefully you should have all the exams before leaving, then 12 months on the tools in civiy street (you might be able to get some civil expereince before you leave) then you can get your licence, a civil employer id more likely to take you on if you have all your exams.

Hope thats of some assistance, have been out a few years myself, good life in the army, now on 747s at Cardiff.
