Many of these European routes might work if the Economy starts growing again but as of now, airlines will play safe and concentrate on expanding from Dublin. There's also the danger of flooding the market if too many marginal routes start that are in relatively close proximity to each other.

In 2003/4 Czech airlines operated the only route from Cork to Central Europe and were doing well. Then indirect competition began to Budapest, Krakow, Berlin and Katowice and the rest is history. To a lesser extent Sky Europe low cost service to Bratislava put Malev under pressure on Budapest.

Of course the Ryanair v Wizzair battle is about to begin on routes to Poland and Lithuania.
