Thanks for that Bluski. So, no Frankfurt by Lufthansa to Cork unless Aer Lingus drops some other all ready existing route to take up the FRA challenge.

An interesting week. The DAA announce yet another competitor on the New York to Dublin service in the guise of the American Airlines 757 beginning next June. It will then be no less than four different airlines on the New York to Dublin route.

Cork cant even get a two a week out of all that in summer peak but then again it cant get anything else either - a list should be compiled of all the routes Cork cant get. I will get the ball rolling with the usual suspects:-

Prague (a former very successful route in both directions by Czech Airlines until EI helped wreck it?;

Budapest; (had some good high yielding connection traffic from Budapest with Malev, RIP).

Bratislava (low yield but very good loads from Sky Europe, RIP);

Brest or Nantes if only seasonal;

Cologne (Bonn) - cant understand why this has not been tried down the years as Cork is twinned with Cologne;

Copenhagen or Stockholm in Scandinavia (three airlines on Dublin Stockholm);

Istanbul, (from zero to 10 a week in two years next summer from Dublin). Lot of Asian folk living in the Cork area with most of Asia now or about to be on the Turkish long haul network, cf large TK order this week for more 777s;

Zurich (was a scheduled route from Cork more than twenty years ago!)

A Nigerian destination might be a goer if the runway was okay. Good numbers of Nigerian ex pats now living in the Cork area.

So, carry on now with some other routes that Cork Airport cant get!
