Can't believe that I have only just heard this tragic news. Devastating for all who knew, loved and admired him. He and Dot would land at our local grass strip here in the Midlands and stay with us every so often for some great weekends - and an excellent Christmas. Al took my in-laws up in his Auster a couple of times. They had never been in the air before and were terrified at first, but they came back with the broadest smiles I have ever seen. Thanks, Al, for that kindness. All of us here owe you a great deal and will miss you very much.
